Missions

Casa De Oro Bible Church is involved in supporting many Christian ministries around the world. A portion of our church budget is sent to these ministries along with our prayers and occasionally individual and group participation. Below is a sampling of these mission endeavors we support. Watch for more of our church's missions involvement to be featured on this page.

Pastors to
Prisoners Ministry

We believe it is not enough simply to incarcerate lawbreakers. Punishment must include an opportunity for rehabilitation in order to limit the prison population and give offenders an opportunity to make a positive contribution to society. Lasting change comes from the inside out, through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Public monies provide only one Protestant Chaplain per institution to serve upwards of 4000+ inmates on several yards within each prison. We provide a non-institutional resource for men interested in changing their lives, maintaining the Chapel open for Bible studies, worship services, and counseling throughout the day and evening.

Donovan State Prison

Pastors are able to meet and know the men where they are and be available for counseling on a daily basis. They are able to be Christian role models for those inside, and are often the first one a non-churched inmate has ever had. Pastors are able to reinforce the fact that there are people who care about the inmates as individuals and want to see them succeed. Although located within a "punishment" setting, they do not punish. Instead, they provide guidance for inmates, preparing them for release and teaching them to make choices that will change their life situation that landed them in prison.

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."- Galatians 2:20

Meet Owen

Before I became a Christian, I was totally fine living for myself and for the world. I was selfish, anger ruled over me, and I surrounded myself with people just like that. I played the drums in a few bands and would regularly party with my bandmates. I rebelled against everything that was good in my life, and that took a great toll on my family relationships.

One day during my freshman year at NAU, I called out to God and asked Him to help me find a church and community. I didn't expect anything to happen and could hardly believe that I even asked God for something like this. A few days later, I met a campus minister with New Life Christian Church. He shared the gospel with me and invited me to church and Bible studies. After our conversation, I knew

that God had moved in my life and answered my prayer. The way I felt in that moment was like nothing else I'd ever experienced.

I was initially a little nervous and intimidated to start a Bible study. I didn't know how to handle those feelings, but I met for a Bible study every week and went to every fellowship event I was invited to. The more I sought God, the more I felt His kindness touch my life. After four weeks of meeting for a Bible study, I was ready to surrender my life to Jesus, but I didn't know how. In our Bible study, the minister explained what it meant to be born again. He asked if I wanted to repent and surrender my life to Jesus, and I jumped at the chance! That was January 26th of this year!

Since surrendering my life to Jesus, there has been an abundance of joy in my life like never before. God has brought so much good into my life and moved in ways I didn't know were possible. I am now a student Bible Study leader with New Life. I share the gospel with students on campus in my spare time and teach Bible studies. I also just started serving on the worship team as a drummer. I feel like God has something new for me every day, and I'm so glad I made the decision to live for Him!"

Teen Challenge
San Diego

December 2025

End of the Year Newsletter

"Dear friend of San Diego Teen Challenge, as we near this celebration of the coming of the Lord and Savior of the world, we are reminded that God is with us. He has not left us alone in our pain, sin, or lonliness but He fulfilled His great promise to the world, made His dwelling among us, and brought salvation to the Earth. Today, I want to remind you that God is still faithful to every promise. He is still reaching the lost, saving the sinner, healing the sick, and setting the captives free. He is Christ the Lord and will finish the great work He has started until He comes again.

As we celebrate the goodness and miracle of God's unfailing love this Christmas season, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your faithful prayers and generous support of Teen Challenge San Diego.

What God is doing here can only be explained by His profound love, His powerful Word, and His Holy Spirit mightily at work in the lives of our students, staff, and volunteers. My prayer for you this Christmas is that God will do 'exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or imagine according to His great power that is at work within us.'

Look What the Lord Has Done!

  • Received 1,725 phone calls from people in crisis

  • 500 men have come through our doors, discipled, and set free

  • 68 students were equipped and deployed into full-time ministry!

  • Every event held in 2025 broke records in attendance and fundraising!

Event Spotlight: Encounter

Encounters are life-changing events that have been designed to help individuals foster a closer relationship with Jesus Christ through a direct experience of God's presence and love. Unlike traditional seminars or events, Encounters are centered around sharing real-life stories from individuals who have experienced transformation through their faith in Jesus Christ. On September 19th, San Diego Teen Challenge paused the program to allow this special event to take place and our men in the program to experience it. We had several leaders from the Encounter Ministry fly from Reno, NV, to run this event exclusively for SDTC: Several of our men accepted Jesus for the first time, and 15 of them got water baptized! A 2025 core memory!"

their gifts and hear about Jesus, with many continuing in discipleship through The Greatest Journey, a 12-lesson program that has led millions of children to follow Christ. What began with just 28,000 boxes in 1993 has grown into a global movement, with volunteers, churches, and families partnering together to share the hope of Christ with the next generation.

Christians Sharing
Christ

We dedicate ourselves to Biblical evangelism. Our desire is to reach all of Latin America with the Gospel of Jesus Christ before His return, and we do this by training, equipping and motivating churches to fulfill the Great Commission, to the Glory of God the Father.

Our ministry was started in the red light district of San Jose, Costa Rica in 1969. In the years since, it has expanded to every Central American Country, several countries in South America, every state in Mexico, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and for a

period of time there was an itinerant missionary into China. It has been used by the Lord to see more than 2,000,000 professions of faith.

We have been blessed to speak in churches and at major events in front of tens to thousands of people, as well as on national Latin radio and television programs, but we also truly believe in street preaching in the hope that it will reach God's children that have not been exposed to a church environment.
